The toppling iPad

چکیده
Abstract The motion of a toppling iPad is analyzed in detail. Measurements angular velocity and linear acceleration were made for about the edges corners. From analysis velocity, position center mass gyration radii determined. accelerometer was measured using both centrifugal Euler acceleration, with latter measurement providing more accurate data. This experiment could be used first year university course mechanics, either physics laboratory or as home experiment.

Toppling Manipulation
This paper describes a robotic manipulation primitive called toppling—knocking a part over. We derive the mechanical conditions for toppling, express these as constraints on robot contact locations and motions, and describe an application of toppling to minimalist parts feeding of 3D objects on a conveyor with a 2 joint robot.
متن کاملYamanouchi Toppling -extended Abstract
We study an extension of the chip-firing game. A given set of admissible moves, called Yamanouchi moves, allows the player to pass from a starting configuration α to a further configuration β. This can be encoded via an action of a certain group, the toppling group, associated with each connected graph. This action gives rise to a generalization of Hall-Littlewood symmetric polynomials and a ne...
متن کاملOn the Toppling of a Sand Pile
The sand pile model was introduced by Bak, Tang and Wiesenfeld (see [BTW88]) in the context of selforganized criticality. Since then, there has been a lot of work on this model and related models, especially from the graph-theoretical point of view (see, e.g., [ALSSTW89, GK93, GMP]). In the classical model, designed by Brylawski for another purpose (see [Bry73]), a sand pile is a decreasing seq...
متن کاملToppling numbers of complete and random graphs
We study a two-person game played on graphs based on the widely studied chip-firing game. Players Max and Min alternately place chips on the vertices of a graph. When a vertex accumulates as many chips as its degree, it fires, sending one chip to each neighbour; this may in turn cause other vertices to fire. The game ends when vertices continue firing forever. Min seeks to minimize the number o...
متن کاملAugmenting the iPad: the BladeAxe
In this paper, we present the BladeAxe: an iPad-based musical instrument leveraging the concepts of “augmented mobile device” and “hybrid physical model controller.” By being almost fully standalone, it can be used easily on stage in the frame of a live performance by simply plugging it to a traditional guitar amplifier or to any sound system. Its acoustical plucking system provides the perform...
